Teach and Reach
Teach and Reach is an idea for an education startup that won the Third Prize in the Columbia DevFest 2019 Hackathon. In less than 24 hours, my teammate and I developed an online platform to connect pro bono tutors in New York to the student communities they hope to benefit.
civicfeedR
civicfeedR is an R package I started working on in Dec 2018 and released in Jan 2019. The package accesses the CivicFeed News API to retrieve useful features (e.g. headlines, highlights, entities mentioned) from news articles posted across the web. It also contains a range of functions that transform the retrieved news data into analysis-ready R objects. Check out my GitHub package repository to find out more.
What is Data Science?
Data science is popularly described as the intersection between computer science, statistics and domain knowledge. To find out how this definition plays out in real life, I investigated, using topic modelling techniques, the relative importance of computer science, statistics and other domains in the descriptions of top data science job openings advertised in the winter of 2018.
